Excellent news and pleasent surprise from SR!!!! Didnt expect SR to start all services at one shot.
Thanks to all those who did their part to expedite the commencement of services!!
Few points:
1. MS-NCR is 6175/6176 - may be maintained at MS
2. Sigh of relief that MS-NCR and Cholan may not be in RSA
3. 2793/2794 numbers are swapped than whats on TT. 2793 is indicated as MS-MDU and 2794 as MDU-MS
4. 113/114 likely to have RSA with VM-MV passenger. Vasanth mentioned that the boards read as "TBM-VM-MV"
5. One rake for Cholan should arrive from TPJ over weekend. Both 6853/6854 starting on 26th.
It would be interesting to know about the usage of VM pitlines for any of the passenger/express trains.
Dilip, Re-routing of Boatmail and MS-TCN on 1.8.2010 may be to allow 3 months advance reservation.
All the best, Mainline!
Cheers,
Raj

In profit point of view, express train is needed and not passenger trains. |
May I give a small correction to this particular statement of yours Arul with your permission ?
If Lesser loss is considered to be a profit, then, operating of express trains, can be termed as profitable venture to IR.
B'cos, passenger trains would contribute more to the high operating ratio.
I once heard from SWR sources, that by operating an Iron ore rake in the Hassan - Sakleshpur - Mangalore section, they earn Rs. 24 lakhs, revenue where as operating an express train, they get Rs. 4 lakhs ( I mean, net earnings after all over heads)
I need not say anything about passenger trains !!
So, SWR was reluctant to operate more passenger ( non freight ) trains in Hassan - MAQ sector !!!
bye & cheers,
ravi |

This may be because of the schedule of the new train 2794 MDU-MS Biweekly. |

In the latest press release, for 6853 6854, word Cholan is missing and it is now mentioned as mere Chennai Tiruchirapalli express.

Dilip Sir,
The brand new name board in yellow was displayed only as TAMBARAM-MAYILADUTHURAI, both in tamil and English at some of the rakes, when I saw the VM-TBM passr. in the morning at Guduvanchery station.
I even tried to click in my mobile phone camera, but, the CGL sub-urban was too fast to spoil it.
No idea, when they have the intention for RSA, then why the name board was made in that way.
Regards,
Aravind |

Now that the road map for opening of main line is given and also dates of train operation.
SR has to give dates for making Rockfort Exp Exclusively for Tiruchirapalli.
It make take a few monts but sooner done better is for people in and around TPJ.
For a city of Tiruchirapalli an exclusive train for chennai is a must. _________________ Suganthan

RF will be terminated at Trichy when both Boatmail and Tiruchendur express is getting diverted via mainline. This is for sure.
