That was weekly 4 coaches (through coaches) attached to Navyug exp @ ED attached to TPJ-SBC exp from TPJ-ED return by ED-TPJ pass before DG-MDU-TEN converted to BG.
Later extended to TEN made bi weekly but this link exp is only 7 coach train.
If tri weekly MAS-SVDK exp 16031/16032 extended to RMM through ML/TPJ/KKDI and speed up then 16787/16788 can take shorter route.
Any train introduced should either take MDU or TPJ/ML to sever more town, still KMU, TJ since these towns dont have connection to New delhi. There no point in terminate all train @ MAS/MS. Connect most of tamil nadu better to extend half of the trains to places like MDU/TPJ/KIK/RMM/TN/NCJ to benefit rest of Tamil Nadu, instead connecting to rest of tamil nadu.
In fact its time SR extend either Tamil Nadu or Grand trunk Exp to MDU via CL or ML. Not only connects to rest of India but an additional train to Chennai.
Let us not try to extend any well patronized train or divert the train if the train is the only connectivity for the town (it is TPJ for TEN - JAT link express) with any other towns (anything beyond NZM until Katra for this link express). We need to try increasing frequency of NZM - MDU & NZM - CAPE bi-weeklies to daily & route few of the increased services via VPT - APK - MNM - KKDI - TPJ - KMU - MV - VM thereby covering new sections too (similar like CSTM - NCJ taking 2 different routes). Also it is my humble request to spare these trains being quoted like a compensation train to MS/ MAS/ TBM.

Ramesh

Most of the train introduced when MS-TEN/RMM where MG trains. Lot of train from MAS already extended to SBC, TVC, CBE, Allapuzha,.. still more train might get extended in future.
Some trains from SBC extended to MYS, CBE, SSPN, similarly trains from ERS extended to TVC, NCJ, TEN.
Nothing wrong in extending some of the train from MAS/MS to RMM/TPJ/MDU/KIK as these station don't have proper connection to rest of India. Extending some of the trains MAS/MS will get relieved, pay way for introduction of more trains.
Getting new trains or increasing frequency of existing trains next to impossible. MAS-SVDK exp 16031/16032 has 18 coach, making it 23/24 coach train, speeding up and extending to RMM will only provide more connection.

IR sooner or later has to revisit and restructure pass train operation. Many long distance trains running extremely slow based on schedule given 30 years in some cases 40 years back. This not only occupies the slot @ major junction and major trunk route but also results in poor rack utilization.

Chennai is already under-served by services to National capital or other regions. The extensions quoted to ERS/SBC/ALLP were in 1990s and last one MAS-JP to CBE in mid 2000s.

As 4th metro, Chennai deserves many more - first a daily Rajdhani to the national capital and many missing connections still not available - Konkan for example.

Better to demand new trains - lately many trains are introduced based on repeated demands and other influences.

Cheers,
Raj

From MAS
12295/12296 - Extended to Bengaluru
12687/12688 - Extended to MDU

From SBC
11013/11014 - Extended to CBE
16613/16614 - Extended to CBE
10 set of train extended to MYS

From CBE
16107/16108 - Extended to MAQ
12677/12678 - Extended to ERS

TPJ lost most of its trains to other cities, towns,.....
TPJ-SBC
TPJ-MAQ
TPJ-Cochin
TPJ-JAT
TPJ-MS pass (not introduced after GC)
TPJ-MS Exp 12605/12606
TPJ-QLN Exp (not introduced after GC)
TPJ-HWH (one day to cape)

When extending MAS train to other states its okay but to other parts of Tamilnadu..??. We got nothing in the last 3 years. Those trains introduced were based on requirements from northern states only. Still no train from chennai in the morning to Central and south Tamilnadu except 16127/16128 nearly introduced 2 decade ago.
Only Chennai is well connected to SBC while rest of Tamilnadu has only 4 trains to bengaluru.
