Punalur-Guruvayur FP to be inaugurated on september 14th. (Onam, the state festival of Kerala falls on Sept 14-17)

The new train has many plus points
*First connection from Punalur to North of Kollam, especially Kochi.
* Shortest route from Kochi to Madurai if extended after GC.
* Third train to south Kerala from Guruvayur after Trivandrum ICE and Chennai Egmore Express via TVC.

Timing wud be 17 30 ex PUU to reach GUV at 02 30 and on return, 06 00 ex GUV to reach 02 00 at PUU

Dear Avin,

Good information. This train would be a great blessing for those pilgrims to come after worshipping Lord Ayyappa and bound towards Lord Guruvayurappan temple in Guruvayur !! Excellent effort.

But, still, puzzled why TVC division is holding Gurvayur for trains only from ERS side ? Not even a single train from Malabar (PGT division) side is planned ? Is the loco reversal (for trains from SRR side ) which is required at Punkunnam or TCR a deterrant factor ?

As Guruvayur is more or less in the gateway for Malabar region, Malabar badly needs a train either from PGT side or from SRR side to GUV. ( The option of changing trains at TCR is always there but not possible for aged or women travelling with children)

bye & cheers,
ravi

Dear Ravi Sir,

As you pointed this train will be of real help for devotees who want to go between Guruvayoor temple and Sabarimala temple.

And regarding less connectivity of GUV with Malabar area - it should be because of loco reversal at TCR and route via SRR from Malabar to GUV is a round about or a long distance journey.
So very less people prefer this.

Route via Tirur --> Thirunavaya --> Kuttipuram --> and crossing the bharadha puzzha bridge via road to reach GUV is the shortest distance. Many buses ply in this route and people prefer this.

Once the new route between GUV and Tirur/ Thirunavaya come into existance it will be a very big hit.

As per the new SRZTT, there was a proposal to introduce TRAIN NO.56367
Guruvayur Trichur Pass which would depart GUV at 00.20 arrive TCR at 01.00 and T. No. 56368 TCR GUV Pass which is scheduled to depart TCR at 02.00 and arrive GUV at 02.40. Whether PUU GUV Pass is an extension of already announced TCR GUV Pass or a altogether new trains is to be introduced.

I agree with Mr. Ravi that there is no Train between Malabar Region and GUV. I feel that with the addition of PFs at TCR, this train would materialise.

The route beyond GUV towards either Tirur or Thiruvavaya will only be a dream since there are issues regarding the Land Acquisition.

I wish to have a train between SA and GUV and MAQ and GUV with amalgamation at TCR.

Very good news and thanks for sharing Avin. Also nicely highlighted the key points of this train.

PUU-GUV new psgr train via KTYM was being "shouted from the rooftops" before the Budget in Feb this year.
However, only PUU-QLN and TCR-GUV psgr trains were announced.

Now, the PUU-QLN and TCR-GUV trains are going to be cancelled even before inauguration. Instead, this new PUU-QLN-KTYM-ERN-TCR-GUV psgr will be inaugurated. (ERS will be skipped).

There has to be RSA. Seems to be at PUU.

Since the two proposed trains are being cancelled, obviously there will be a re-working of the Maint/RSA plans made before the Budget. Things will be clearer after 14 Sept.

due to this train operation TVC division withdrawing one passenger train and using Teagarden rake as passenger between ERS-KTYM (ERS: 7:30 AM & KTYM 17:15 ). The advantage of this, people of KTYM region can use the same train for their further journey towards TPJ,VLNK etc (A/C coached remain closed between ERS to KTYM and wise versa Smile Smile) as per local news manorama...

Anyway good to see another train covering half of Kerala..All major towns in the Central travancore and Trichur district....

I think timing should be slightly adjusted on UP direction as it is reaching 2 am in guruvayur...

I think SR can plan it like this...

MDU-PUU(Night) PSSR>>PUU-GVR (Day) PSSR>>GVR-MS EXP>>MS-MDU EXP and return with proper RSA

In fact MDU-PUU (6 SL) has more sleeper coaches than MS-GVR (4 SL) ((Crazy SR)).. so clubbing all these and making an RSA will be a better option.

Second thing GVR need a train to CBE and Salem as lot of pilgrims are from these areas.either extend some trains terminating CBE or introduce a new passenger/MEMU between salem and GVR.and its Salem divisions tenture now to act on this...

Dear andnil2012,

Reg. what you said

100% geuine request. It was requested to extend the present CBE - SRR MEMU, 66605 ( dep at CBE 0945 hrs and arrival SRR at 1235 hrs) The same rake again departs from SRR at 1445 hrs ( After a gap of 2 hrs 10 mins). It can be extended to GUV and no loco reversal required as it is a MEMU rake and needs only change over of Motor man & Guards)

If some kind of understanding to operate this train between SA, PGT & TVC divisons is achieved, then not only CBE, but also PGT would stand benefitted by getting a direct train link to Guruvayur. (GUV)Also, passengers from SA, ED etc can arrive CBE by 17230 Sabari express and have an option of changing over at CBE jn to this train if they want to go to GUV( Of course, even beyond CBE they can do so)

P.S. :- But, the reply received from SR, was that this rake of CBE - SRR MEMU shares its rake with CBE - PGT MEMU which is an Office goers train and any delay of the rake of SRR - CBE MEMU ( due to extension etc to GUV) would have its cascading effect on operation of CBE - PGT MEMU which would not be tolerated by the commuters !! :-)Reg. SA - CBE MEMU, possiblity of extending to GUV,one has to see how the rake link works out.bye & cheers,
ravi

For those, who would like to do pilgrimage to GUV using this train, this is the best timing for them.

Reaching at 2:00 AM, the passengers could go to Nirmalya Krishna (Visvaroopa) Dharshan in the temple, which is at 3:30 AM.

No need to book hotel rooms.

For day time commuters, another train has to be planned.

@ Ravi

There is a proposal from PGT division to connect Guv line towards north since the GUV-TA line work got blocked due to various reasons.

And if it done what about of the extension of 22615/16 to GUV.. so there will be direct connectivity between two pilgrimage places

@ Shankar

Proposal there to extend PUU part of the train to MDU when gauge conversion over

Most probably, RSA for this train is going to be with PUU-MDU passenger.

But according to local daily, coach composition for the train is 2 SL and 14 II

Todays Hindu Daily, though, has a different version of timings to say:

"The scheduled departure time of the train from Punalur is 5.30 p.m. and it will arrive at Guruvayur at 2 a.m. the next day. The train which leaves Guruvayur at 6 p.m. will arrive at Punalur at 2.20 a.m. the next day.

Due to timings, the SL are not likely to get much patronage. Therefore, using a few of them as General II may be what's happening.

Only a few days more, let's wait and see.
