Though the train operation is after new time table of July 2013, now they can operate as summer spl to meet the demands of the people in this region. This will provide a feasible slot analysis before time table finalization

I don't think there is any rule that this should run only after July TT. But, I agree that it's the most likely case. If the rakes are there, I too hope that this is introduced as daily special so that the summer crowd can utilize it.

Nagercoil - Bangalore new train to run via Karur, rail users happy

MADURAI: The post-budget announcement of Union railway minister, Pawan Kumar Bansal over realigning the route of Nagercoil - Bangalore daily train service announced in the budget through Karur, Namakkal and Salem has greatly cheered rail users in the southern districts. It may be recalled that rail users of Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli districts have been demanding a daily night train for 15 long years on this route as thousands of youth from these regions are employed in IT and automobile sectors in Bangalore and Hosur.

At present, there is only one daily train between Tuticorin and Mysore, which is fully packed almost every day and there is another weekly train from Nagercoil to Bangalore. Following the rail users' continuous demand, a new train was announced between Nagercoil and Bangalore in the railway budget, much to their delight.

But the announcement came as a disappointment as the train was proposed to be operated through Madurai - Trichy, instead of the shorter route through Madurai - Dindigul - Namakkal, thus increasing the distance by 100 km and two hours of time.

The rail users urged the railways to reconsider the route as soon as the train was announced and on March 13, the minister announced the re-routing during the post-budget session. "Due to completion of gauge conversion works on the Salem - Namakkal - Karur section and also because of popular demand, it will now be routed through Dindigul, Karur, Namakkal, Salem and Madurai," the minister had said.

T S Jegan, president of Kanyakumari & Tirunelveli Districts Residents Association of Bangalore (KTDRA) said that they are very thankful to the railway ministry for the realignment. "They have saved our time and money," he said.

The rail users also proposed the railways to further announce the train as a superfast express and schedule it in such a way so that it departs Bangalore at 5pm and reach Nagercoil by 7.30 am and vice versa. The route can further be shortened if operated through Hosur without touching Tirupattur, said P Edward Jeni, Kanyakumari District Rail User's Association (KKDRUA). "We request the railways to consider these suggestions and implement them so that our 15-year-old dream will come true and we will get the best benefits of this train," he said.

The association also suggested altering the existing time schedule of Bangalore - Nagercoil Weekly Express since it currently arrives at 2pm at Nagercoil on Fridays. This arrival day and time are not useful for the passengers. "We suggest the railways to reschedule the day and time of the train. It will be of use to the passengers, if it departs from Bangalore on Fridays and arrives at Nagercoil on Saturdays mornings. A Friday departure from Bangalore will make this train, a perfect weekend service to the passengers and a profitable one to the railways," he added.

From NCJ 17.00 o clock departure will be good but from SBC it should start after 18.00 or 18.00..It will be good for working peoples to catch the train..

SBC - NCJ Weekly train can change to Friday and can operate Chalukya slot @ 22.00 on Friday becuase PDY GR slot changed to 21.00..So Friday Chalukya slot 22.00 is free..

So SBC - NCJ Weekly can use 22.00 o clock slot and run as below schedule via NMKL..

SBC -22.00
SA - 02.45
MDU -06.45
NCJ - 11.30

and it can return same day(Saturday)

NCJ -15.30
TEN - 17.00

Even 18.00 Dept. from SBC is my wish, but looking at the congestion in PF1 to PF6 , I am not sure how they are going to Manage.
This train will be speeded up or Slowed down only based on the SBC - NCJ paths and PF availability.
From SBC - NCJ it is through out single line section, really i would say SR & SWR have done the wonderful Job to meet our demand, but still more is expected from them on schedule Wink
Had it been a FEDL, you get more or less a schedule we want or demand.

From SBC, this train can depart either at 17:00 or at 19:50 (if platforms are available). At NCJ, this train can arrive after 9:20, or if 16340 NCJ-CSTM is diverted via NKL and shares its slot with 12666 (8:15), this can arrive at 7:00.

Departure at NCJ cannot be at 17:00, it could be 20 minutes earlier (to clear a block for 12668 which departs at 17:05). Or, it can be at 19:20 (before Tirukkural). Arrival time at SBC will be an issue with the very congested arrivals in the mornings.

The schedule of this train will be framed keeping in mind the slots and platform availability at SBC and NCJ.

Is there any possibility of starting from Bypl or KJM?
They were talking about makin BYPL as world class ststion and now Metro also starts from here.
Is ther a proposal to make this as third terminal for Bangalore?

regards,
Arumugam

If this is a SR train, this may have RSA with 16610/09 CBE-NCJ Exp with PM at CBE. But chances are also there for 16610/09 to have RSA with CBE-MQ Daily Exp.

If this is an SWR train, this may have RSA with Island Express. As of now this seems to be the most likely probability.

16609/10 is a combo train with link 16611/12 to TN . So RSA with this train will be difficult be it for the new NCJ - SBC daily or CBE-MQ exp .

I prefer RSA with ISland for the enhanced accomodation it has compared to TN-MYS exp and MV-MYS exp . That might free up the space at NCJ also .

It's likely that there will be no RSA with Island.

If it has to have a RSA with Island, NCJ-SBC cannot depart before 21:25.

If 16610/09 is to have RSA with CBE-MQ, only the CBE-NCJ portion will have RSA with CBE-MQ Exp. Suitable shunting will be done at CBE to ensure this.

RSA with Island Exp is a high possibility due to saving of 1 rake by this RSA. Currently Island Exp is being run with 3 rakes, while 4 rakes will be sufficient to run this combo, instead of 5.

The present timings of Island Exp have been framed assuming loco change at TVC and diesel hauled from TVC to CAPE. Now it gets A/C loco all the way upto CAPE and can be easily speeded up by 1 hour (45 mins at least) - 15 mins saving in loco change at TVC and 30 minutes running time easily due to better acceleration. Also 15 minutes of buffer time can be cut in NCJ-CAPE section.

So 1 hour savings is definitely possible and it can depart NCJ at 17:40 after arrival of 12634 and arrive CAPE at 18:00, before CAPE-TEN Passenger departure.

It can immediately start at 18:40 from CAPE and reach NCJ at 19:00. After 1 hour of cleaning and watering at NCJ, it can start at 20:05 hours (Between 12690/12641 & 16609 slots).

Similarly in the return direction, it can arrive NCJ between 12667/12642 & TEN-NCJ Passenger, maybe around 08:40 hours, after 1 hour of cleaning & watering, depart as NCJ-CAPE Passenger at 09:40, reach CAPE at 10:00 hours and start as Island Exp at 10:30, as usual.

How is the punctuality of Island Exp at NCJ now after getting A/C loco?

^^

Island express puntuality

http://indiarailinfo.com/train/916

On an average Island express departs 13min late from TVC.. i.e around 16:00, but arrives NCJ around 18:35hrs.. i.e. consistently late by 1hr.

============================================

I am expecting major change in slot for the trains from SBC towards SA in coming TT.

Diversion via Namakkal and saving of a rake for Island express should be main agenda in TT for SBC-SA section.

Diversion of all the trains from SBC/ MAS to South TN / Delta Dists in the SA-NKL-KRR section may pull off some connectivity to ED, but it helps a lot to ease congestion in the SA-ED-CBE section and many trains can stick to the scheduled timings in that route. Not sure if it is possible to speed up some trains running in that section like SBC - CAPE Island exp

In any case the new SBC - NCJ Exp can cover the stretch in 14 Hrs duration taking HSRA -NKL - KRR route.

Also its better if we have arrival at MDU any time beyond 5 AM and NCJ at around 10 AM.
