Sri KHK may be knowing that Nagapattinam-Quilon was running in narrow gauge in the same route.
But it is preference for Chiristian dominated localities like Thiruvananthapuram, Nagaercoil, Tirunelveli, Manamadurai, etc. However Muslims will also prefer that route if extended beyond NGPT to KKL since Nageore lies enroute. Like wise Hindus will also prefer to go to [1] Tirunallar [2] Ettukudi [3] Ennkann etc.
So please support this cause. Or
Let it originate [after BG conversion between Shencottai and Punalur] from Kollam and traverse through Tenkasi, Ambai, Tirunelveli, Viruidunagar, manamadurai to NGPT to Velankanni. Some will say it is circuitous.
So prefer this route rather than ghat route.
Let separate day time trains be operated between Kollam and Velankanni via Shencottai, Tenkasi, Rajapalayam, Madurai, Trichy, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Velankanni during festival times of all religions.

Nagore - Quilon was Metre Gauge and Not Narrow Gauge...

From TVC only via NCJ, it is shortest route and from QLN via SCT, VPT only the shortest route..

First SR should restore the MG train Quilon - Nagore Exp via SCT, TSI, VPT, MNM, TPJ, TJ as ONT then think about New ONT in new Route from QLN - VLKN via TVC, NCJ..

Shencottai, Tenkasi, Rajapalayam peoples also needed ONT as part of MG restoration...We no need Day Time train from QLN to VLKN/KIK and ONT is best option for QLN to VLKN/KIK via Shencottai, Tenkasi, Rajapalayam, Madurai, Trichy, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam...

If you are ok with day time train for more than 10 hours then Kollam to Velankanni via TVC, NCJ,TEN,VPT,MNM,TPJ can operate as separate Day Time train..

The Karaikal District Railway Users’ Welfare Association has urged the Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu to reintroduce Nagore-Kollam fast passenger and extend it from Karaikal to Sengottai.

In a memorandum to the Minister, association president V.R. Dhanaseelane said that about 10 years ago, Nagore-Kollam fast passenger was operated daily, which was suspended for the reason of gauge conversion between Nagore and Thanjavur.

However, “it was not restored again even after the completion of the gauge conversion works in this railway line. Hence the railways should restore the operation of the Nagore-Kollam fast passenger by extending it from Karaikal to Sengottai. The fast passenger train will be useful to traders, devotees, and tourists to visit Pudukottai, Karaikudi, Manamadurai, Virudhunagar, Sivakasi, Srivilliputhur, Rajapalayam, Sankarankoil, Pambakovil Shandy, Kadayanalluir, Tenkasi and more places by covering up to 494 km. In addition, it will definitely increase the revenue to Southern Railway of Tiruchirappalli and Madurai divisions.

In Karaikal (Tirunallar), the devotees, the public, and traders were expecting the arrival of this train to cater to their commercial improvements and entertainments — not only to Karaikal but also to the surrounding areas like Nagore, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Tiruvarur, Mannargudi, Needamangalam, and Thanjavur.

Therefore, the association has demanded reintroduction of this train from Karaikal to Sengottai at the earliest to make the people enjoy the recent summer vacation in Kuttalam and other tourist places which could be covered by this train. The association wanted the reintroduction of Karaikal-Sengottai Fast Passenger before Tamil New Year, said Mr. Dhanaseelane.

The train was suspended for taking up gauge conversion between Nagore and Thanjavur

Velankani Express

Trivandrum (Kochu Veli/Nemom) - Kollam- Sengottah-Virudhunagar-Manamadurai-Karaikudi-Pattukottai-Mannarqudi-Thiruvarur-Nagapattinam-Velankani

the above option is perfect for Trivadrum to Velankani excluding major junctions

If it is True, SR Should Operate Via TPJ, MDU ,VPT line.
Becze KIK,NGT,TVR Lack in South Dists Connection .
No Trains to MDU. if it Run Via MDU, We Use this For Southern Dist Travelling Purposes & Move Other Trains at MDU .
Also Helpful to go Kollam for Kerala Tour Plans ..

Kollam Suited Between TVC & ERS .

We Will Choose Both Side Tourist Places From QLN.

I Have traveled to Varkala From CAPE on Past 2017 New Year & Celebrated Night Hours at ERS..
Varkala is My Favorite One From That Trip.

Surely Big Treat For Delta If It Run..

New train to Chennai to cut travel by 3 hours

DECCAN CHRONICLE.

Published Apr 4, 2018, 1:50 am IST

Updated Apr 4, 2018, 1:50 am IST

The Thambaram-Kollam express train is in place of the Madras–Egmore– Kollam train that chugged along the meter gauge rail route earlier.

KOLLAM: The Thambaram (Chennai)–Kollam express train which had its maiden trip along the newly opened Punalur-Sengottai rail route will run daily saving at least three hours in travel time while connecting Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram. The official inauguration of the route which was commissioned on Saturday will be done by Rajen Gohain, minister of state for railways, at a function to be held in Punalur on April 10. The Thambaram-Kollam express train is in place of the Madras–Egmore– Kollam train that chugged along the meter gauge rail route earlier.

“The new train will start service after the official inauguration of the route. The train needs two new rakes to start its operation from Kollam. Based on availability of rakes, the service will be operated as special train before the inauguration of the route,” said Kodikkunnil Suresh MP. The trains currently operating to Punalur will be extended to Sengottai after rescheduling, he added. There is also instruction to upgrade the Punalur–Palakkad Palaruvi Express train to Thuthukkudi–Palakkad intercity express train.

New train connecting Kollam–Nagore– Velankanni is also under consideration, he added. In the first phase six passengers trains are likely to operate along the route bridging the two states, operating from Madurai, Sengottai, Kollam, and Tirunelveli. Initially, the trains are expected to take more than two hours to cover 49 km, the distance between Punalur and Sengottai, as the route is mostly in Ghat area. The speed along the route has been limited to 30 kmph in the preliminary phase which will be advanced further.

The Railways also has plans to consider the proposal to declare the rail route as a heritage tourism route, taking advantage of its course through Western Ghats along Aryankavu– Punalur stretch. The major considerations will be nature tourism and heritage tourism as the route already consists of historical structures constructed by the British. The rail route includes a heritage 13-arch bridge along the 45-km-long railway line from Punalur to Sengottai, commissioned in 1903. The bridge 102.72 metres in length and 5.18 metres in height was constructed using the ancient Surki method by British.

It is now strengthened using concrete jacketing and the heritage look will be artificially created by fixing the walls with tiles resembling the old construction blocks. The meter-gauge rail service along the Punalur-Sengottai stretch was stopped since September 2010. The Punalur-Sengottai section is part of the 325-km Kollam-Sengottai-Tenkasi- Tirunelveli- Thiruchendur gauge conversion project carried out by the construction wing of the Indian Railways.

My suggestion for services from Karaikal, Nagore Velankanni from east to Ernakulam, Trivadrum Quilon towards west is to operate them via NGT, TVR TTP PKT KKDI MNM VPT and SCT so that they need not take up the circular route via MDU or via KRR CBE.. and also this region will get connectivity from east to west..

Possible stops

From Karaikal

NGT
TVR
TTP
KKDI
MNM
VPT
SCT

From NGT/VLK

TVR
TTP
PKT
KKDI
MNM
VPT
SCT

There will be trouble free services due to less traffic and with MPS of 70 kmph. Some time can be saved and also direct east west connectivity can be established with partial East Coast Railway route.

Thanks

From KIK and NGT District there is a long demand for Direct train to Madurai..So this new KCVL KIK Exp will run via QLN SCT MDU TPJ TJ TVR only..

Path is not an issue as already MDU TJ Double line and VPT MDU Doubling in progress..

KCVL KIK Exp via MDU, TPJ only good option to run without any Patronage issue..

TVC-KIK-TVC Spl Express Getting Good "DEMOS" Response in both run..

Booking Shows Clearly Compared With Last Year Poor Run Due to Several Issues With Worst TT & one more Train Ran From MS/TBM-TPJ-KCVL On that KIK-KCVL Running Same Day..

But This Time in that Same Worst TT, Showing WL in SL [Total SL- around 580]
