Dear Dilip,

I am sure SR will play some trick!

MS-PGT or CBE daily will get introduced once CGL-VM and ALU-TPJ doubling is done.

POY can get good ONT through CBE
UDT can get good ONT through TPJ...
PLNI can get good ONT through TPJ...

via SA, NMKL, KRR none of the station can get good ONT. SR will play some trick in 2015! this train will land in Madurai and MS-PGT/CBE daily via TPJ will get introduced.

MS 22:00 TPJ 03:00 DG 05:00 PLNI 06:15 UDT 07:00 POY 08:00 CBE or PGT 09:15

CBE/PGT 18:30 POY 19:30 UDT 20:30 PLNI 21:15 DG 22:30 TPJ 00:30 MS 06:00

CBE's 3rd night train will start from POY.. (via VRI or JTJ)

POY 21:00 CBE 22:00 MS 06:00
MS 21:45 CBE 05:45 POY 06:45

I don't think another daily from POY will be introduced. Some tinkering of this time slot is expected. More arguments for and against will emerge once GC up to POY will be completed.

But I agree that the rake saved by using this exp as pass and returning back to DG will save a passenger rake which can be introduced with RSA with TEN - TCN and TCN - PLNI passenger can be introduced. All lie with MDU division now

But as of now its moment to cherish for all the people right from Rasipuram till Palani as they got very good timings (Infact the best timing possible) considering the slot availability

The news quote is by MP sir, SR still didnt put up its Press Release, the date of booking would be made on the press note only. Still chances are there for a daily in press release.

I agree Dilip...

It was a quite upset day when TT released! Never thought even in dreams railways will come up with better schedule for Rasipuram, Namakkal, Karur and Dindigul people.

This train is going to reduce load on many trains.

1. Pandian Express (DG will load its patronage in Palani Express)
2. MAQ-MS express (KRR may considerer this as convinient train in UP direction compared to MAQ-MS which leaves early at 20:00hrs compared to Palani Exp which will depart little late around 21:45hrs)
3. Yercaud Exp/MS-SA exp.. people from Rasipuram/Namakkal surrounding who were using these two trains at SA can have convinient trains at their door steps.
4. Nilgiri Express.. If SA gets sufficient quota.. then SA patronage on Nilgiri exp will come down in up direction.. (presently 75-120 reserved passengers are using Nilgiri at SA)

Mallur stoppage also will help a lot.. Super schools are located mostly b/w Mallur and Rasipuram.

Dear members,

Saw scrolling news in Sun news channel.

DG, MP, Shri. NSV Chithan, has informed that from Oct 2nd the MAS - PLNI train would be inaugurated. But, he added that it would be a tri weekly service.

Think somehow SR has managed to get one rake for operating this train.

Something is better than nothing !! Let SR operate this train atleast tri weekly till they manage another rake to make it daily.

Kudos to Shri. NSV ji !! I came to know that at this advanced age, he has sweated out for GC from DG to PLNI and also for introduction of the passenger trains to PLNI as well as this PLNI - MAS train.

Kudos to PLNI & Namakkal, Rasipuram, Mohanur for their FIRST EVER regular train connectivity to Chennai.

bye & cheers,
ravi

MSB sir..

Special Thanks to you. SR has considered the time change request. Smile

Now Karur and Namakkal dt can enjoy this convinient train timings to state capital.

Next if quota is less... Karur/Namakkal should ask for general quota along with Palani and Dinidgul.

In future no. of coaches should be 17-18.

wow they have changed the timings to suit Nammakal people...

MAS 22:00 SA 03:00 NMKL 04:00 KRR 04:45 DG 06:30 PLNI 08:00
PLNI 18:30 DG 20:30 KRR 22:00 NMKL 22:45 SA 23:45 MAS 05:00

Boopathy sir thanks for your initiative.

Namakkal people should be happy with the present timings.

Karur gets very good train to state capital.

Dear Arul,

Thanks for quoting various news in this regard. My part in time changing is only at communication level and negligible when compared to the real pressure by MPs. Definitely the credit should go to all the elected representatives, rail users association, etc., those who involved in getting the time changed.

Particularly, I thank our Karur MP in this regard and Shri. NSV Chithan for their tireless efforts.

Though Tri-weekly is littlewhat a disappointment one at the moment we heard,we console ourselves as Ravi Sir told – Something is better than Nothing. Kudos to SR which has made some make-up work for the time being till we get dedicated rakes.

Hope to see this train daily soon.

KRR MP, Dr. M. Thambidurai, made the following requests to RM & SR GM:

*PLNI-MAS Exp. Should arrive KRR @ 10 PM & reach MAS before 6.30 AM next day.
*SA-KRR & KRR-SA Pass should be operated on Sundays too.
*No. of 3AC coaches should be increased from 2 now and a separate 2AC & 1AC instead of HA1 IN 16859/16860.

Other demands:
•More Ticket counters at KRR Station
•Retirement hall for passengers
•22205/22206 should be stopped at KRR.

Most Welcome, Arul. Actually, without hope, we were trying at our level best. At the same time, Our KRR MP had also insisted on convenient timings whenever he had a chance to meet RM. I'd like to remember, he is the key in getting considerable funds in completing the Mohanur-Karur section.

Only time will tell the need for such non stop trains.

Even for argument sale, Converting it to AC express is inevitable, it should have minimum stops and definitely not halt places like AJJ, JTJ etc...

Palani-Chennai Express from Oct. 2

To be operated thrice a week, says Dindigul MP

The much-awaited express train to Chennai from Palani will be introduced on October 2, according to Dindigul MP N.S.V. Chitthan.

Talking to presspersons here on Saturday, he said the express train would depart from Palani station at 4 p.m. on the Gandhi Jayanti and arrive at Chennai the next morning.

Initially, the train would be operated thrice a week owing to shortage of compartments.

The train would depart from Chennai Central Railway Station at 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and reach Palani at 8 a.m. the following days.

The express train would be operated as passenger train between Palani and Dindigul and as express train between Dindigul and Chennai.

The up train would start from Palani at 6.30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and reach Chennai the following mornings.

The train would halt at all major stations such as Dindigul, Karur, Salem, Jolarpet and Katpadi.

The train would comprise 16 compartments, including seven unreserved coaches, six second class sleeper coaches, one three-tier a/c compartment and a second class a/c compartment. Thirty seats had been allotted for Palani and 20 seats for Dindigul in each compartment.

Second class fare to Chennai would be Rs.140, Mr.Chitthan pointed out.

As Palani station did not have adequate number of platforms, the train would be brought back to Dindigul after scheduled run.

It would return to Dindigul from Palani during daytime as passenger train. Again, it would go to Palani in the evening as passenger train to start its regular journey to Chennai.

Efforts were on to operate trains from Palani to Tiruchendur and Rameswaram.

To meet the drinking water needs of passengers, the Southern Railway had planned a water purifying plant in Dindigul and Palani at an estimated cost of Rs.15 lakh each, he noted.

SR has sofar not announced about the introduction of this train and the reservation detail is also not available in the IRCTC website. Does this train be inaugurated on Oct 2nd, 2013 as mentioned by Dindigul MP?. Does anyone of the forum members have any idea about the confirmed train inaugural date and timings??
