Since this train 22609/22610 reaches Mangalore 13.40 it can easily be extended to Madgaon since there are two rakes for this train and one rake is lying idle for nearly 23 hours at MAQ. The timings will also be convenient. The extension to Coimbatore is a very welcome step.

If Tuti / Nagercoil overnight express reaching atleast before 6.00 am at

coimbatore jn it will be very useful for southern districts people to

undertake onward journey to mangalore / mumbai.

As regards return journey from mumbai / mangalore, they can

undertake onward journey to various places like madurai, tirunelveli,

tuticorin and nagercoil via madurai easily.

whether southern railway will change dep and arr timing of nagercoil /tuti

to coimbatore overnight express?

22609/22610 is alrady having stoppages at Kanhangad, Payyannur, Thalassery & Badagara. Since it is a superfast train I do not think it may be provided stoppages at smaller stations.

Let kerala express stop everywhere. Let this intercity stop only at major stations. Let SR do the MAO extension in next budget.

That is for end to end passengers Sir. And especially when the chennai lobby pulled the train outside kerala, the demand of the people shall get the priority. And that is seen in trains like Chennai Mail and Kerala SFE

Even extension of trains will serve Coimbatore

SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
SHARE · PRINT · T+
Even extension of a couple of trains will cater to the travel needs of Coimbatore region if introduction of new trains is not possible owing to constraints in procuring coaches and engines.

A representation to the Railway authorities from rail activist Nagai S. Mohan suggests that Southern Railway needs to just extend the Thiruvananthapuram – Palakkad Amrita Express up to Coimbatore, an additional distance of 59 km.

Similarly, Coimbatore will benefit if the recently introduced Mangalore – Palakkad Inter-City Express is extended up to Coimbatore.

Mr. Mohan feels that these services will benefit Keralites who live in large numbers in and around Coimbatore.

The Palakkad - Mangalore – Palakkad Inter-City Express which starts at Palakkad at 7.25 a.m. could start from Coimbatore at 6.25 a.m. Similarly, the train from Mangalore, which starts at 12 noon and reaches Palakkad at 6.15 p.m., could be extended up to Coimbatore.

This particular train covers a distance of only 351 km.

The extension of Amrita Express and Mangalore – Palakkad Inter-City Express will help South Kerala, North Kerala and Dakshin Karnataka get rail connectivity with Coimbatore.

Mr.Mohan also points out that when the Coimbatore – Chennai Egmore Express was extended up to Mangalore, Coimbatore did not object. Similarly, the Bangalore – Coimbatore Inter-City Express, the only train connectivity with Coimbatore was diverted up to Ernakulam. When these trains could be diverted, Southern Railway was reluctant to divert even one train beyond Kerala towards Tamil Nadu, Mr.Mohan felt.

In addition, extension of Jodhpur – Bangalore Express up to Coimbatore was a long pending demand of the North Indian population living in Coimbatore.

It was announced twice in the railway budget. Even the Railway Minister proposed and Parliament had cleared it but unfortunately, the Railways were yet to implement it. This train, besides connectivity with Jodhpur, will also provide the much required connectivity for Coimbatore with Bangalore.

Rail activists say that if the departure of Kurla Express was rescheduled to leave in the late evenings, it could also provide direct overnight rail connectivity for Coimbatore with Bangalore.

Kongu Express

Similarly, the frequency of the weekly Kongu Express (Coimbatore to Nizamuddin) should be increased and if the departure of the train was rescheduled so as to depart at night and made to run via Bangalore, it would serve the travel needs of people from the region.

The railways should extend Thiruvananthapuram – Palakkad Amrita Express up to Coimbatore

-------------------------------------------------------------------
out of two demands one of the demand likely to be fulfiled tomorow.

Dear members,

'The Hindu', Kozhikkode edition carries a news in which it states that the North Kerala Chambers of Commerce and industry have sought increase in the number of coaches for this train.

http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-kerala/article3630051.ece

Excerpt :- Extending this train service to Coimbatore would be welcomed by Keralites in Coimbatore and other places in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Mussamil said.

bye & cheers,

4 rakes available now at MAQ, in RSA which runs as Ernad and MAQ-CBE SFE, can easily break the RSA for an extension

Where will the PM be done (these are SR rakes) without changing the MAQ-CBE-MAQ timings too much.?

Well, I dont think there should be a point of worry regarding this in a discussion forum like ours. The policy related matters can be altered by the RB AFAIK.
And if it gets extended to MAO (surely with an LR at MAQ), it wouldnt be the first time a running train changes its numbers and gets handed over to another zone. Blore Raj is an example...
