If it is going to take 22.45 slot in ED, i feel, it could possibly start 45 min to 1 hour later in Velankanni. Looks like too much of buffer time before ED.
Velankanni to TPJ should be possible in 4.00 hours with 15 min for Loco Reversal each for NGT and TPJ. TPJ-ED should be possible in less than 3 hours. |

| At least this could have been routed via NGT-TPJ-VRI-SA-KJM-UBL-VASCO. |

I agree, the slot at TPJ and KJM (towards Vasco) seems to be close to erstwhile SBC-TPJ daily train. They could have routed via VRI-SA which would reduce number of loco reversal to 3 _________________ Murali

##As per the latest SZTT, 7315/7316 have been provided with commercial stops in:
**Madgaon, Kulem, Castle Rock, Londa,
**Dharwar, Hubli, Haveri, Davangere, Birur, Arisikere,Tumkur, YPR,
**KJM, Bangarpet, Salem,
**Erode, Karur, TPJ,
**TJ, Nagapattinam
##Kindly expand "SVM".
##Secondly, the SWR site indicates a stop in JTJ, whereas this is not found SZTT.

SVM is Sanvordem Chuch
I think JTJ is not a stop but a time of Crossing as there is (T) in brackets which must have some meaning as it will be taking the Bypass line at JTJ.
The other difference is on Timings at TPJ
SZTT TPJ 9.15(A) - 9.25 (D) towards Velankanni Where as SWR states 9.25(A) - 9.40 (D)
TPJ 18.20 (A) - 18.30 (D) towards Vasco where as SWR states 18.35(A) - 18.55 (D).

| Time taken for the TPJ-VLKN stretch varies very much for the up and down journeys. Towards Veilankanni, it is only 3hrs 20mts, while for the return it takes nearly 5 hours !! And the funny part olf it is, that the lesser time includes buffer too!! |

Sir,
##The scheduled arrival of 7315 in VLK is 13.00 hrs. and the scheduled departure of 7316 is 13.45 hrs. on the same day, that too, after travelling for 1,271Kms.!!!
##Since the TAT at VLK is just 45 minutes, the authorities might have allotted 5 Hrs. for VLK>>TPJ journey.
##I don't think there will be any buffer time before it arrives in TPJ from VLK, because it moves into Salem Division only at Tiruchirapalli Fort. I welcome to be corrected. _________________ V S PRASAD

Dear KPC, VSP sirs,
I feel return timing from Velankanni to TPJ is formed to avoid overtaking in NGT-TPJ sector. There is a passenger leaving 15.20 at NGT and reach TPJ at 19.20. To avoid over taking this express train is made to precede the passenger and since 16.45 slot is used by 14260 BSB-RMM Exp on Tuesday at TJ this train will be following it and reach TPJ by 18.20.
In effect this train runs in passenger timings in NGT-TPJ sector with having only one stop in between.
Thanks and Regards,
Ramki |

Response from SR for suggested change in time of this train.
G.50/PG/WC/2011-2012/190
Dear Sir,
This has reference to your email. In this connection, the remarks received from the Operating Branch of this Railway are appended below for your kind information.
"The timings of Train Nos.17315/17316 Vasco - Velankanni Express has been worked out taking into consideration, the time available for maintenance, availability of path on single line and double line sections of Southern Railway and South Western Railway and availability of platform. Hence, it is not feasible, to revise the timings as suggested. This Railway has approached Railway Board for provision of stoppage for Train Nos.17315/17316 Vasco - Velankanni Weekly Express at Thiruvarur. Railway Board’s advice is awaited."
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
B.NAGESWARA RAO,
Joint Director, Public Grievances,

Hi Sirs,
Good morning. With respect to the announced Vasco - Velankanni express and subject to its timings mentioned in the recent SZTT, I would like to bring to your attention certain conveniences in timing the passengers of this train are expecting. Request you to kindly check the feasibility and implement it.
The train is announced to depart from Vasco at 09.50 reach Yeswantpur at Midnight, depart at 00.10, reach KJM 01.00, reach TPJ 09.15 and Velankanni by 13.00.
While the idea seems to be that provide a convenient day time connection between Vasco and Bangalore and overnight connection between Bangalore and Velankanni seems to have faltered with the timings.
If the departure time is advanced by about 2 hours in Goa it will provide a convenient day time connection between Goa and Bangalore and overnight connection from Bangalore to Velankanni and one day connection between Goa - Velankanni.
The ideal would be like this
Vasco 08.10
UBL 13.15
YPR 22.05 (Following Chalukya Express) Dep 22.15 (Loco Change)
KJM 22.45 (Erstwhile 0669 SBC - TPJ Special Daily Express slot which is free now - Following Island Express all the way till Erode)
SA 02.40
ED 03.40 04.00 (from now 16866 Lead ERS - NCR Express ) (Loco Change)
TPJ 07.10 07.25 (Loco Change)
TJ 08.25
TVR 09.20
NGT 09.45 (Loco Change) 10.00
VLKN 11.00
If the path is constrained through ED route, it could also be thought about routing via Srirangam, VRI, SA in the same slot of erstwhile SBC - TPJ Express. This will avoid one Loco Reversal too.
In the Return Direction, the train can be made to depart little late from Velankanni as lot of buffer time is given before reaching Erode and late departure will make it convenient for people to patronise the train.
Velankanni - 15.00
NGT - 15.30 15.50 (Loco Change)
TVR - 16.20
TJ - 17.30 (overtake 56853 passenger on the way)
TPJ - 18.35 18.55 (Loco Change. This slot is same as that of Erstwhile TPJ-SBC Express)
From TPJ onwards it can follow the existing timings of the announced express. Normally most of the express trains take less than 3 hours time between TPJ and ED while this train has almost 4 hours. If this can be speeded up even it can depart late from Velankanni further.
ED 22.45
KJM 03.30
YPR 04.30 04.40
Vasco 19.40
These timings will make passengers more convenient to patronize the train. Since the timings between KJM and TPJ are more closer to the slot of erstwhile SBC-TPJ-SBC train and this slot is still free, request you to use this slot which will be convenient to people of Bangalore and Tamilnadu.
Also, request you to enable stop at Thiruvarur (TVR) which is a district head quarters and a big town. All the trains passing through TJ-NGT stop at this place and this train also need to be provided a stop at this place. This place is of historical importance with lot of ancient chola temples around with lot of pilgrimage.
Hope suitable action is taken in this regard and believe the train gets introduced soon.
Thanks and Regards,
Ramakrishnan. |

MARGAO: PWD minister Churchill Alemao claimed on Friday that the Vasco-Vailankanni direct train will commence soon.
"I just received a call from the private secretary to the Union minister for railways, Dinesh Trivedi, that the direct train would start between August 15-20. Trivedi will come to Goa to inaugurate the new train service," Alemao told TOI.
Claiming credit for the train, Alemao said that the direct train to Vailankanni would ease the sufferings of thousands of Goans who take a pilgrimage to the holy place every year.
"Since 1990, I have been pursuing with the railway authorities the demand for a direct train to Vailankanni. The ex-railway minister Mamata Banerjee was kind enough to consider the demand and a weekly train from Vasco to Vailankanni was proposed in the last budget," Alemao said.
The schedule of the train and its frequency is yet to be made known. _________________ IR Autonomy/Privatize IR! |

Should be a daily train with over night journey on both directions for TPJ-SBC & SBC-TPJ.
Should cover Vasco – Velankanni vice versa in 23 - 24 hours
SR should run 2-3 exp between TPJ and NCR so that trains from NCR/VLK can have there primary maintanance at TPJ instead of MS. _________________ Suganthan

Great news on Vasco - Velankanni Express. It is a welcome move that they attempted little tweaking with respect to regular train timings as against what is present in TT. May be next TT some more tweaking can be done to make it lot more convenient for travel between Velankanni and YPR.
The below was the response received few days back when sent a mail to SR/SWR on Vasco-VLKN spl for Velankanni festival. Good that it happened soon and regular service also getting started.

Subject: Velankanni Festival Specials
Dear Sirs,
Good evening. The famous mother mary Velankanni festival is round the corner in 2 weeks from now at Velankanni near Nagapattinam in Tamilnadu. While SCR has announced some special trains from Mumbai for the Velankanni festival, the much expected VASCO - Velankanni special is not yet announced. Vasco - Velankanni was operated in previous years and it was successful and this has been announced as a weekly train(17315/16) in the budget last year. We are hopeful either the regular train starts operation before the festival or atleast the special train is operated for the festival while logistics being arranged for the regular train.
Also, some time back, a special train was operated between Trichy and Bangalore using the lie over rakes of TPJ-HWH Express. Though this had been very successful from TPJ - SBC as night express, it is not successful as SBC-TPJ as it was operated as Day time train with Sleeper coaches. Request you to operate this special during velankanni festival as Trichy is the nearest city to Velankanni and there will be special buses operated from Trichy which could facilitate people to travel between Bangalore and Velankanni. Also operate the return train from SBC as a night train to help commuters.
Hope these requests are considered and fulfilled.
Thansk and Regards,
Ramakrishnan |
